A warm portrait of Kianne, relaxed, in soft natural light.
About me
Hi! I'm Kianne (Key-anne), a Specialist Wellness Counsellor.
I'm originally from Johannesburg, where I studied Psychology up to Honours level at Wits, before moving to Cape Town for further training in counselling and psychometry at Stellenbosch University. After more than a year in practice, I've found my place in this field, and I hope this page helps you get a sense of it.
I work with a variety of people, but most often with the things that are difficult to say, difficult to face, and heavy to carry: trauma, life-changing experiences, loss, and anxiety or pressure that has become too much.
Sessions with me are a safe, warm conversation, two people meeting to share a load. I stay closely attuned to where you are and let that guide us. Sometimes that means a gentle push, sometimes a safe silence to just feel. All of it is okay, and I'm here to create and hold that space for you. Come as you are: cry, laugh, shout, or sit quietly. Whatever you need in that moment, I'll be there to share it with you.
“Sessions with me are a safe, warm conversation: two people meeting to share a load.”
I believe people are complex. You are not defined by what has happened to you or by things you have done, but by a mix of your inner self, your experiences, and the ways you choose to respond. We have the power to shape our own futures, even when that's hard to see or feel, and I hope to sit with you in that space until you feel empowered to find your way forward. I believe everyone carries a beautiful inner world, and the better we get to know it, the better we understand what makes us happy and what's missing.
I've done my own personal healing and worked through difficult experiences myself, so my approach is informed by experience as well as education. I also keep an open mind. Everyone needs their own process and their own toolkit, and figuring that out together is the work.
Starting this process can be scary, and committing to someone you're not sure is the right fit makes that first step even harder. If you have questions, or you'd just like to see whether I feel like the right fit, let's have a free fifteen-minute video call. I'd love to meet you.
Outside of work
Outside of work, you'll find me at the dog park with Jaxie, my smart, mischievous rescue who loves a cuddle above all else, or tucked away with a book and a cup of tea (which I will probably forget about halfway through).
