How sessions feel
My approach
My work is person-centred and Jungian-informed. In practice, that means I meet you where you are in that moment. I'm not an all-knowing professional with the answers. I'm a human who happens to have training, and together we shape the space and the landscape for healing.
“I meet you where you are in that moment.”
Behind that is something I believe about people. We struggle when we lose touch with who we are, or when shame or an old wound has made us push parts of ourselves away. We get better when we come to know our inner world, bring those parts back together, and accept ourselves as a whole person. It's ongoing work, and you don't have to do it perfectly.
So in our sessions, I try not to steer too much. You bring what you need to, I tune in to you, and that guides us. Depending on what comes up, we might look at your relationships, patterns that keep repeating, or sometimes your dreams. I choose my tools based on you, not the other way round. I also listen to the body, because anxiety, heaviness or a pit in the stomach often carry something words haven't reached yet, and sometimes we ask the feeling what it needs to say.
Because the answers sit with you, I don't give advice. I won't tell you to leave a partner, drop a friend or make any particular decision. You're the only one who can reach the parts of yourself that show you how to live in a way that's true to you. My job is to help you explore, and to offer another way of seeing things when it's useful.
To keep the work going between sessions, I might suggest something small, often a way of being kind to yourself or taking care of yourself.
Whatever we explore, my hope is that you feel comfortable, accepted and safe, and that you leave with more warmth toward yourself than you came in with.
